Newborn Sessions
Those first few weeks after your new child is born is life changing. As a mom myself I know all too well how crazy this time in your life can be, and how fast things with little ones change. These tiny little humans are best photographed within 3 weeks of life while they are still sleepy and easily coaxed into those curly newborn poses. Most moms book their newborn session with me during their 2nd trimester so we have plenty of time to design your newborn session specifically for you.
Newborn sessions are planned with your family and desires in mind. A simple, visual questionnaire helps me plan the perfect newborn session based on your likes and preferences and also leaves room for me to choose items for your session, if desired. My cozy Niantic office space is the perfect location for your newborn session where all my props, backdrops and accessories are all within arm's reach. In-home sessions are also available by request for an additional fee. When photographing baby at home my goal is to have your images look seamless and as though they were taken in-studio.
Baby safety is my highest priority during your newborn session. In addition to being licensed and insured, I stay current on important vaccinations and am certified in newborn photography safety by AANPS. Whether you trust your newborn images to me or choose someone else, please choose with safety in mind.

FAQ's
What do we need to do to plan for the session?
I try to make planning for your newborn session easy and fun. I've created a super simple visual guide that shows you many of the props, poses and sets I'm known for that helps get your mind thinking about what you'd love to see in your images. Through this guide you're able to select props and colors that appeal to you as well as provide input on anything special you'd like to see incorporated into your session. This simple questionnaire along with all of our communication throughout the planning phase of your photography experience will be used to design a session special and unique to you and your growing family. I keep in touch every step of the way to ensure a memorable experience with beautiful results.
What can we expect during a studio session?
When you arrive for your newborn session, the room will be quite warm and cozy. I'll have most everything set up for your session based on your questionnaire and a few additional setups on standby in case the session goes exceptionally well and we're able to do more than planned. With everything already to go we'll assess baby to see if they need to eat, snuggle them into their various props and positions and create as many beautiful images as we can while you're there. Because most everything can be set up in advance families can expect to spend a little less time at their session and won't have to watch me set up, clean up or move things around in the home to get the best space. I'll send a prep guide before your studio newborn session, so you'll know what else to expect and what to bring along while you're there.
What can we expect during an in-home session?
When I arrive for your newborn session, it might look a little bit like I'm moving in, but I promise I'll only stay a few hours. We may move a few things around as we find space for me to set up and then we'll start working with baby. All babies are different so I work with them and decide what setups we start with based on how alert or sleepy they may be in the moment. I try not to rush and make sure we take plenty of breaks to snuggle and feed baby so they are happy and content throughout the session. Don't worry, I'll send information on how best to prep for your session well ahead of time so we can get baby in the best mood for their very first photoshoot.
What happens after our session is over?
After your session I'll review all the beautiful images we captured and select the very best to present to you in your viewing gallery. There you'll be able to choose images for your collection or make any upgrades. Once final decisions have been made, or if you've pre-selected a collection including the full viewing gallery, I'll get to work right away on hand-editing and perfecting your images. I upload images as they become complete so you're able to see and download them as soon as possible. If you're interested in a piece of signature wall art or an incredible reclaimed framed piece I'll include information on how to order those through me at extraordinary pricing.
How can we book our newborn session?
Just send me a note through my contact form below or at hello@alyinspired.com to get everything started! We'll talk about the process and make sure I'm a great fit for you and your growing family. Once we're ready to move forward I'll send over my portrait agreement electronically or offer to meet in person to go over everything. At that time a reservation fee of $200+tax will be due for any session and goes directly towards the collection you've chosen at booking. Of course upgrades can be made at any time.
What should we wear?
Whether booking a newborn alone or a newborn+maternity I have an incredible selection of gowns in different sizes and colors for use during your maternity or newborn sessions. You can choose to wear something from my collection or something from home. I'll send a styling guide ahead of time to help answer questions about what you and your family should wear to keep focus on baby and the family connection.
