That first year of your little ones life truly goes by so fast. It doesn’t feel like it in the moment but suddenly you look at your little one and you are thinking to yourself… wow how did my cooing, drooling little baby turn into this tiny person??? The one year milestone is one of the most precious moments to document for your little one. Yes there are a million moments in between worth photographing and remembering forever, but the development your child shows at this point is just so magical. This post will talk a little bit about One Year Milestone / Cake Smash Sessions with Connecticut Maternity Photographer Aly Inspired Photography.
When hiring me for your little ones cake smash session know that I’m here to make this experience as easy and painless as possible. After years of inviting families to my own home studio space I’ve realized families – especially those with older siblings – really want beautiful portraits and a low-stress experience. Because of this I now exclusively travel to families homes all throughout Connecticut for their newborn and baby milestone sessions. My goal with this model is to enable your family to get beautiful studio-quality portraits while being in your own relaxed environment. No need to pack up baby, siblings and worry about everything you’re forgetting – I’ll bring the studio to you.
For this cake smash we chose a simple pink backdrop and coordinating floor and outfit for some simple portraits of baby before heading into the cake smash portion of her session. For the cake smash we chose pink, white and gold pumpkins with floral accents. While I do create beautifully elaborate sets I try to keep any space constraints in mind and focus on baby and all their adorableness. For this session I had a custom floral cake made by local baker A Sugary Cloud. Outfits were from FloraNStyle and the floral hanging backdrop was from one of my favorite companies, R2 Backdrops.
When you book your cake smash session with me we chat a little bit about colors, themes and any special requests you have for your session. I try to get a feel for what you’d love your images and sets to look like and create something I feel would be perfect for you and your family. The day of your shoot we try to take at least one family photo and a family with any older siblings if possible. At the end if we’ve done a cake or other food smash we usually invite an older sibling or two in at the very end to show baby how a cake smash should really be done. This is often one of my favorite parts of the shoot as you get to see baby and their older sibling enjoying some cake and laughing together.
